B.Sc. in Aircraft Maintenance is a full-time undergraduate program for 3 years affiliated with Bengaluru North University as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2022. The major aim of the course is to prepare students for careers in the field of aeronautics and aerospace. The course contains theory, practice, and training in exciting areas like aircraft and aerospace mechanics, aerospace aerodynamics, electrical and electronic fundamentals for maintenance engineers, materials and hardware, human factors, aviation legislation, aircraft structures, gas turbines, and piston propulsion. Practical training and experience of engineering techniques in operational and serviceable aircraft with any one of the national air carrier facility centres in India or any other foreign air carrier overseas. This program deals with the safety and security of aircraft and their passengers’ The institute would support and allow the students to gain practical knowledge of knowing Airbus or Boeing full flight simulators to simulate ground runs and maintenance activities by interrogating the aircraft’s on-board maintenance systems. It is very proud of students who can also try their hand at the take-off and landing of their enormous aircraft.
WIAA is subject to getting an approved Maintenance Training Organisation (MTO) as per DGCA CAR 147-Basic and offers both:
Practical training, or “Operational Environment Practical Training,” would be conducted by any of the DGCA approved CAR 145 Aircraft Maintenance Organisations (AMO’s)
Note: To become an Aircraft Maintenance Technician in India, one must obtain a “license” issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India. WIAA would support assisting students through training to appear for the DGCA Exam after completing the degree program of B.Sc. (Aircraft Maintenance).
The various job roles that students can have upon successful completion are: Line and Base Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance Planning, Airworthiness, Quality Assurance, Continuous Airworthiness Management and Operations (CAMO), Planning of Aircraft Servicing, Ground Equipment Engineering & Management, Aircraft Purchase & Sale, Lease & Charters, Aircraft Dispatcher, Flight Engineer, Airside Safety & Security, and Civil Aviation Regulatory-Government.
